Salons: Building Communities of Praxis
In addition to our client-facing work, Thrdspace is nurturing a vibrant community of thinkers, doers, and dreamers through The Tenth, our membership community.
We support these leaders through on-going education, professional development, and transformative programming that directly impacts their community-engagement efforts.
We believe that salons are foundational to social change
Salons are informal gatherings that have been staples of global liberation movements - from the French Revolution to the Black Arts Movement. It was in these gatherings, these third spaces, where communities gathered with intention, shared knowledge, and socialized ideas for a generative and joyful future. We are living in a time where this same generative energy needs to be sparked and stoked. Thrdspace is investing in our collective social infrastructure one salon at a time.
The Thrdspace community is growing. Over the years, thousands of people have been attracted to and inspired by our salons. The members of our community are eager to learn about ideas that connect them to places and to each other. They crave intellectual discussion, but without the pretense. They want to make changes to improve the quality of life for themselves, their wider community, and our planet. They want to be introduced to levers of change in ways that are authentic. We know that when they are activated with ideas that will change the way they move through the world, they bring their folks along with them.
Our salons range in theme and venue, but consistently explore ideas of place, history, culture, and the environment.
