Nasim M. Fluker
Nasim M. Fluker is the founder and principal of Thrd Space, a consulting firm that provides creative strategies for changing places. We do this through creative placemaking, building organizational capacity, and program development. She is a 5th generation Atlantan with a passion for creative place-making and equitable revitalization, Nasim is driven by a desire to help others by enabling change and leveraging resources that preserve and develop existing community assets while attracting new investments.
Before founding Thrd Space, Nasim was the first-hire and Director of Programs and Operations at the Westside Future Fund, a Georgia non-profit targeting community revitalization of Atlanta’s Westside. During its development and start-up phase, she provided programmatic and administrative leadership to promote and expand public-private partnerships, formed alliances with private business owners, resident groups, philanthropic leaders, and City of Atlanta agencies to create broad-based community engagement. She launched the flagship programs that continue to engage thousands of Atlantans annually.
Prior to her work at the Westside Future Fund, Nasim was the Program Manager at the Atlanta Committee for Progress, a partnership between Atlanta’s top business, civic and academic leaders, and the Mayor to support economic development priorities. She supported the public-private investments and partnerships in Committee initiatives including the Westside Future Fund. While completing her graduate work, Nasim was a research associate at Georgia State University’s Center for Excellence in Health Disparities Research, conducting qualitative and quantitative research on health outcomes in low-income communities and managing the execution of an innovative, culturally-competent health promotion programs.
Nasim is also the co-founded LiFT Art Salon, a creative placemaking project that mobilized over 1,000 young professionals, artists and activists to use art as a community development tool. Nasim is a graduate of Lead Atlanta (2016) and an active member of the its alumni association. She is an active member of the Baha’i Community of Atlanta and a founding member of the City of Smyrna’s task force for diversity and inclusion. She is an avid supporter of the arts in Atlanta, with a special interest in emerging artists of color. Nasim has worked on numerous community development initiatives internationally, including significant experience in the Middle East, Central America, and the Caribbean. In her free time, you can find Nasim wandering the aisles of the Buford Highway Farmers Market looking for ingredients for her next dinner party. She lives in Smyrna with her husband Clint and son, Zayn.
She holds a Master’s degree and coursework toward a Ph.D. in Sociology from Georgia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Development from American University.
